Lowell Arts - West Michigan Art Competition thru March 28 and MuralCity until March 20

Lowell Arts is soon envisioning some giant works of art and they are calling for all professional and emerging artists and all art lovers too!  If you have ever dreamed of having your art transformed into a giant mural on the side of a building - here is your chance!  Muralocity is a Public Art Initiative, organized by Lowell Arts in partnership with the CIty Lowell, which will activate historic downtown Lowell.  The selection committee will select five finalists to participate, with a stipend included, and more details are available on the Lowell Arts website. But until that happens, be sure to visit the Lowell Arts downtown gallery - a great date night by the way- to view the outstanding winners of the West Michigan Art Competition. They will be on display through the end of March, and there are some really impressive and talented artists that are featured in this beautiful gallery space.

Farmers Alley Theatre - Misery - March 5 -15

If you are looking for high caliber professional community theater right in your own backyard, look no further than Farmers Alley Theatre in Kalamazoo.  Their newest production, Misery, is based on one of Stephen King’s novels, and one you won’t want to miss!  Misery is about a romance novelist who is rescued from a car crash, only to discover that his neighbor Annie, supposedly his number one fan, is impressively deranged.  She is holding him captive because she is outraged over the ending of his most recent novel and forces him to write a new ending to his novel. Paul, while injured and physically incapacitated must create a new scenario, writing as if his life depends on it - which it does!  Misery is playing from March 5th through the 15th and there are also lots of other sensational seasonal productions to choose from, with tickets starting at about $ 22.00.
