The Michigan Maritime Museum announces a change of course for its
tall ship Friends Good Will. Due to extremely low water levels in South Haven Harbor, the
ship cannot safely navigate an exit from its home port. With Friends Good Will not sailing to
Holland for Tulip Time this year, visitors can still step aboard this iconic 1810 replica sloop -
right here in South Haven.

From May 2–10, the Michigan Maritime Museum will offer special dockside tours of Friends
Good Will, giving guests the same opportunity to explore the ship’s decks, learn about its
fascinating history, and experience maritime life in the Age of Sail.

“We’re disappointed not to bring Friends Good Will to Holland this year, but safety always
comes first,” says Patti Montgomery-Reinert, executive director of the Michigan Maritime
Museum. “We’re excited to invite visitors to our waterfront campus in South Haven to
experience the ship where it lives year-round.”

Dockside tours are free with paid Museum admission during normal operating hours.
Guests are encouraged to explore the full Michigan Maritime Museum campus during their
visit.
