As summer gives way to fall, Lakeshore Keepers is inviting visitors to experience Michigan’s historic lighthouses during one of the most beautiful times of the year.
Beginning September 10, Lakeshore Keepers’ five historic lighthouses will transition to fall hours, open Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to plan their trips before each lighthouse closes for the 2026 season.
The 2026 closing dates are:

Manistee North Pierhead Light: September 20

Little Sable Point Lighthouse: September 27

Ludington North Breakwater Light: September 27

Big Sable Point Lighthouse: October 25

White River Light Station: October 25
Fall offers visitors a unique opportunity to experience the lighthouses with cooler temperatures, colorful scenery, and stunning views along Lake Michigan. From climbing a historic tower to exploring lighthouse history and enjoying a walk along the shoreline, each site offers a memorable way to experience Michigan’s lakeshore.
“Fall is a wonderful time to visit the lighthouses,” said Julie Slagter, Marketing Manager at Lakeshore Keepers. “The changing seasons bring a different kind of beauty to the lakeshore, and we encourage visitors to make plans to visit before the sites close for the year.”
Visitors can explore all five Lakeshore Keepers sites along Michigan’s western shoreline, each with its own history, architecture, and connection to Great Lakes maritime heritage.
