Lake Michigan Carferry invites the public to step aboard the historic S.S. Badger for two Open Boat Nights, September 18 and October 9, while the ship is docked overnight in Ludington.
The 410-foot National Historic Landmark, known as the last operating coal-fired passenger steamship in the United States, opens its decks for casual evening visits this fall.

- Time: 8 – 11 p.m. following the ship's return to port.

What to Expect
Visitors can explore the passenger areas and outer decks at their own pace without taking a lake voyage. The onboard experience features live musical entertainment in the Cabana Room, alongside a fully open gift shop, concessions, and full-service bars serving snacks and drinks.
The fall dockside events offer a final chance to experience the iconic vessel before the S.S. Badger wraps up its regular 2026 sailing season on October 11.
