Join the W.K. Kellogg Biological Station community at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, for a talk by KBS Director Dr. Bryan L. Foster.
Dr. Foster joined KBS as director in November 2025. He previously served as director of the KU Field Station at the University of Kansas. Earlier in his career, he was based at KBS as a graduate student. He is a two-time Michigan State University alumnus and an accomplished plant ecologist who has used long-term experiments at field stations to explore how ecological communities respond to environmental change.
In his talk, Dr. Foster will focus on:
- Exploring global change effects on plant communities
- Experimental prairie restoration
- The critical importance of field stations for research and education
The talk will be offered in person in the KBS Academic Building's auditorium, located at 3700 East Gull Lake Drive in Hickory Corners, and also will be streamed via Zoom. The talk is free and open to the public, and registration is required at bit.ly/kbs-DwD-spring-2026.
Both in-person and virtual attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions following the talk. Dessert offerings will be available for in-person attendees during the talk. A cash bar also will be available. Informational tables will be set up to talk with attendees before and after the talk, including:
