John Ball Zoo is hosting several community presentations of its proposed Master Plan, which will bring exciting developments and habitats to the Zoo over the next decade.
The public is invited to hear from Zoo leadership about the master planning process and how each project included is driven by John Ball Zoo’s mission to preserve wildlife and wild places.
“John Ball Zoo is excited to present our proposed Master Plan, designed to advance our mission of inspiring our community to be actively engaged in the conservation of wildlife and our natural environment. Through quality educational programming and zoo experiences that foster wonder and discovery, we aim to drive economic prosperity for the County,” said Peter D’Arienzo, CEO of John Ball Zoo. “This plan was developed with input from numerous individuals and community organizations, and we look forward to sharing it with the broader community.”
The Master Plan is a long-term roadmap and living document that outlines the general direction of John Ball Zoo throughout the next decade to accommodate the needs of a growing community. Some of the elements of the proposed Master Plan include the expansion of the Zoo’s African area with additional species like giraffes; one of the largest indoor habitats in the United States; and the return of a sea lion habitat with underwater viewing; a world-class conservation center and many other projects.
More information about the proposed Master Plan is available on the Zoo’s website.
