Interactive event highlights science, technology, engineering, art, math
John Ball Zoo is encouraging children to get excited about science, technology, engineering, art and math on STEAM Day with family-friendly activities from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20.
Tickets for STEAM Day are available online or at John Ball Zoo. Teachers will receive free admission with a valid school ID presented at the ticketing window. This event is a great way to generate ideas on how to incorporate Zoo STEAM programs into classroom curriculum plans.
“At John Ball Zoo, we are so excited to offer STEAM Day to our community, sharing how work in these fields helps contribute to the conservation of wildlife and wild places” said Rhiannon Mulligan, education manager at John Ball Zoo. “STEAM is practiced every day at the Zoo, in how we provide exceptional care to our animals, find ways to conserve our Great Lakes species and how we engage our guests in learning more about the animals we care for. This day celebrates all the amazing work we do every day at the Zoo.”
The Zoo education team and local organizations will be stationed around the Zoo with interactive, hands-on STEAM activities for all ages. The Zoo team of veterinarians and animal keepers will highlight how science, technology, engineering, art and math are used in the Zoo every day through conservation work and education programs.
