Gun Lake Casino opened late in the evening of February 10, 2011, when a massive crowd of casino-goers first walked into the building. Traffic was backed up from the property entrance all the way down the northbound and southbound exit ramps causing a traffic jam on both sides of U.S. 131. The grand opening had been widely anticipated for many years as the Gun Lake Tribe fought for over a decade to clear legal and political hurdles to make the dream a reality.
