Gun Lake Casino Resort is celebrating the illustrious achievement of earning the coveted AAA Four Diamond designation. GLCR qualified for this status after  AAA conducted a rigorous evaluation of essential requirements such as upscale amenities and exceptional guest service. GLCR is now positioned at the top of the hospitality industry  in West Michigan, as only three other hotel properties have this special designation.  

“Our goal is to set the standard for luxury and service in casino resort operations in the  Midwest,” said Brian Decorah, Senior VP/General Manager. “Our entire team has been  working toward this goal for almost a year, and it is a team victory to officially receive the  AAA Four Diamond designation for our hotel and our level of commitment to our guests.” 

In March 2025, Gun Lake Casino Resort evolved into a full-service resort with the grand  opening of the 16-story luxury hotel tower, full-service spa, and new dining options. The  Wawyé Oasis opened in June 2025 offering guests a beautiful glass atrium housing over  

32,000 square feet of paradise, with live palm trees set at a perfect temperature of 80  degrees.

AAA Diamond Designation for Hotels 

The American Automobile Association (AAA) uses high industry standards to review quality,  cleanliness, exceptional guest service, and a comfortable and safe environment. GLCR  earned the coveted AAA Four Diamond designation through a rigorous evaluation including  unannounced on-site evaluations by professional AAA inspectors. GLCR qualified as a AAA  Diamond Property.  

AAA’s evaluation encompassed a wide range of details throughout the property including,  building exterior, landscaping, furniture quality, room layout, technology, ambiance,  elevators, security, food and beverage standards, and ventilation.  

The AAA designation requires an annual re-evaluation to ensure standards are maintained  for outstanding guest experience in gaming, hotel stays, and dining.
