Mackinac State Historic Parks will host a free, guided stroll to Arch Rock on Saturday, September 7, starting at 1:30 p.m.
The summer season draws to a close in the North Woods. Join Mackinac State Historic Parks Park Naturalist Kyle Bagnall for an easy guided stroll along the Mackinac Island Botanical Trail. Along the way the group will savor lingering summer wonders and look for early signs of autumn, including migrating songbirds. At Arch Rock, guests will enjoy one of the island’s most spectacular views and a short tour of the newly completed Milliken Nature Center.
The tour will cover about 1.5 miles on paved roads and trails. The starting point of the stroll is the Fort Mackinac Avenue of Flags, behind Fort Mackinac, on Huron Road. Participants are encouraged to wear good walking shoes and bring a sense of adventure. Donations are welcome.
Support for many Mackinac State Historic Parks programs comes from Mackinac Associates, friends preserving and sharing Mackinac’s heritage.
