Mackinac State Historic Parks invites you the public to a unique, after-hours event at Colonial Michilimackinac on Wednesday, July 9, for an in-depth look at the background, history, and reconstruction of the fort and fur trading village.
Peel back the layers of history with us as we reveal the beginnings of modern-day Colonial Michilimackinac. From an abandoned fort to a campground, the story of the making of Michilimackinac is as layered as its archaeological remains below.
The tour will be led by Mackinac State Historic Parks’ Chief Curator Craig Wilson, and will also provide an opportunity to speak with a member of the Colonial Michilimackinac archaeological team.
The tour will begin at the Colonial Michilimackinac Visitor’s Center, under the Mackinac Bridge, at 7:00 p.m. and end inside the fort around 8:00 p.m. While this is a free program, donations are certainly welcome.
Support for many Mackinac State Historic Parks programs comes from Mackinac Associates, friends preserving and sharing Mackinac’s heritage. More information can be found at mackinacparks.com.
