Create your own literary masterpiece in the quaint Northern Michigan town that inspired Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winning author Ernest Hemingway during the 4th Annual Walloon Lake Writer’s Retreat (April 10-13, 2024) at Hotel Walloon.

This year’s featured leader is Erika Robuck, the national bestselling author of historical fiction including Hemingway’s Girl, Call Me Zelda, and The Last Twelve Miles. Her articles have appeared in Writer Unboxed, Crime Reads, and Writer’s Digest, and she has been named a Maryland Writer’s Association Notable Writer of 2024 and won the Anne Arundel Arts Council Literary Award for 2024. A boating enthusiast, amateur historian, and teacher, she resides in Annapolis with her husband and three sons.

During this immersive weekend, attendees will be introduced to the works of Ernest Hemingway and how the regional landscape around Walloon Lake inspired his storytelling. There will also be individual and group writing exercises; one-on-one writing guidance from published authors and writing professionals; group readings and critiques; and supportive camaraderie from fellow writers.
