On January 31, Legacy Plaza will transform into the ultimate winter hotspot for a festival you won’t want to miss. The Chamber Alliance of Mason County invites locals and visitors alike to the Pure Ludington BRRRewfest—an afternoon of sampling exceptional Michigan brews while giving back to the community.

Now in its 11th year, BRRRewfest delivers an exciting mix of craft beverage tastings, lively entertainment, delicious food, and plenty of winter fun. Your participation does more than warm you up—it directly supports Friends of the Ludington State Park (FLSP), whose volunteers help make the event possible and who receive all proceeds from the festival.

By organizing a group of volunteers, assessing state park needs and holding regular fundraisers, the Friends organization has put Ludington on the map as a place where people of all abilities are welcome to visit. The group works to support and improve the park through funding of projects, recreational equipment, and interpretive programs.

Funds from BRRRewfest over the years have helped the group purchase a handicapped-accessible playground, a universal kayak launch, two all-terrain track chairs, a SeeCoast Enchroma Viewer, and maneuverable beach chairs.

In 2026, funds will support a $99,700 project to rebuild the park’s amphitheater on the south side of the Sauble River. The concrete stage will be removed and replaced, and a stage covering will be installed, according to FLSP President Patrick O’Hare. Some of the seating will also be redone and will accommodate up to 500 people.

“The covered stage will create a focal point. It will change the whole look of the area,” he said.

Event Information

Presented by OxyChem of Ludington, the Pure Ludington BRRRewfest will feature over 20 Michigan breweries showcasing their best brews, with a variety of beer, wine, mead, cider and more for tasting. Tickets are only available online at Eventbrite. Admission is $40, including seven drink tokens and a commemorative tasting glass. Pre-sale tickets are available through January 30 at a discounted price of $30.

Among the participating craft brewers are some of Mason County’s very own: Jamesport Brewing Company, Ludington Bay Brewing Company, Starving Artist Brewery, Love Wines, and Pere Marquette Winery. Other West Michigan notables include Big Hart Brewing, Blake’s Hard Cider, St. Ambrose Cellars, Trail Point Brewing Company, and Iron Fish Distillery.

A collaboration of Jamesport, Ludington Bay, and Starving Artist – a new brew called Brewers of Ludington's Hamlin Horchata BBA Stout – will be featured at this event! This stout, aged in Iron Fish bourbon barrels, has hints of chocolate, vanilla, tiger nuts, and cinnamon. It will be on tap at the festival and limited availability at JBC and LBBC while supplies last.

Festivities will include musical entertainment from DJ Adam Knudsen, eats from Cluck Bucket, Jamesport Brewing Company, and Lakeside Wiener Wagon, and BRRRewfest merchandise from Gordy’s Skate Shop. The Ludington Curling Club will also be on hand, providing attendees with an opportunity to try the sport.

Attendees may enjoy this winter celebration from 1-6 p.m., and warm up by the fire in the plaza or take advantage of the warming tent available on site.
