Head into Escanaba, the largest downtown in the U.P., and snack on homemade chocolates and candies made from old-world recipes. Learn about the area’s past at the local history. From there, head to the shore and take in the view from the striking white brick Sand Point Lighthouse. Lovingly restored as a maritime museum, historically preserved details tell tales of Mary Terry, one of the first women lighthouse keepers on the Great Lakes, witness to a mystery of the light shrouded in time. Located above Ludington Park, kids of all ages will delight in climbing the winding spiral staircase and taking in the view of picturesque Little Bay de Noc to the east.
