The Wizard of Oz ballet is WMYB’s re-telling of the classic, with its own original spin. The ballet tells the story of Dorothy, who finds herself in a magical land after a tornado hits her farm. Along with her dog Toto, she meets the Munchkins and sets off on a journey down the yellow brick road to see the Wizard in The Emerald City, in hopes of returning home. On her travels, she meets the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodcutter, and the Cowardly Lion, all of whom are seeking something they lack. At the request of the Wizard, the friends defeat the Wicked Witch of the West, her charmed crows, bees and the winged monkeys. They return to the Emerald City to ask the Wizard for their requests but soon discover that not everything is what it seems, and that they already had the qualities they sought. With the help of Glinda, the Good Witch of the South, Dorothy realizes that she held the power all along and just needs to click her heels three times to return home. A show for all ages.
