Join Joel Lefever, former Holland Museum President and Curator, now Executive Director and Chief Curator of the Old York Historical Society in  Maine, for this Zoom Virtual Program. Joel will reminisce about the decade-long process of comprehensively restoring the exterior and interior of the Cappon House to its 1902 appearance. Originally from Illinois, Joel Lefever received his B. A. from Hope College in Michigan in 1987, and M. A. from the Cooperstown Graduate Program in New York in 1998. Starting in 1994, he served as Curator of the Holland Historical Trust in Michigan and was named President in 2005.

While in Holland, he oversaw the restoration of the 1867 Settlers House and 1874 Cappon House Museums, and the creation of the Dutch history and art galleries of the Holland Museum. In 2008 Lefever attended the Attingham Summer School in the UK where he met his future wife, Janet Blyberg. Following their marriage, Lefever in 2012 accepted the position of Executive Director of the Old York Historical Society in Maine. Janet, Joel, and their son Peter live in an historic 18th century house in York.
