Oliver Art Center is excited to announce it’s 2021 Summer Class for Kids! Starting July 5 and running every Monday and Tuesday until August 10, classes will cover everything from landscapes and Keith Haring to collage and greek urns. Topics also include sculpture, plein air, watercolor, printmaking, hieroglyphics, and famous artists such as Klimt, O’Keefe, and Grant Woods.
Each class will include a brief lesson on an artist, period, famous works, and will have several different projects relating to the day’s topic. Some classes feature an outdoor activity so kids are encouraged to come dressed for the weather of the day and since the classes use professional quality supplies, kids should dress in paint clothes! . All supplies are included and thanks to the Sally Guzowski Family Foundation, each class is offered at no charge! Registration is still required and parents can sign up at http:// oliverartcenterfrankfort.org/ classes-events-new/youth- classes
“We are so thankful for the generosity of the Sally Guzowski Family Foundation – they made it possible for us to really give back to our community by offering free kids classes. The past year has been rough on everyone, but kids really seemed to have suffered the brunt of the situation. We are really looking forward to having kids back in our classrooms creating amazing art projects,” said Mercedes Michalowski, Executive Director.
In addition to the scheduled kid’s classes, the Creative Space has re-opened. The space allows visitors to peruse books on art, artists, and museums in addition to allowing exploration of artistic mediums through perpetual, self-guided art projects. The community space is open all year during regular business hours and features comfortable seating for both adults and kids; books, puzzles, games geared to all ages; curated, self-guided art projects; display space for budding young artists. This space has no charge and reservations are not needed.
