Whatcha Got Under The Hood of That Car? Hoods Up! Engines On Display From March 6th Through March 20th

It’s time for the annual event that serious gearheads won’t want to miss. For two special weeks in March, the hoods will be raised on all the vehicles inside the Gilmore Car Museum to showcase their engines! Whether 1960s big block muscle, inline fours, vintage V8s, or early air-cooled engines, they’ll all be on display for certified gearheads to explore and enjoy.

Special programming will include FREE Horsepower Tours of notable high-performance engines in vehicles throughout the collection, discussing their unique features, power, torque, and prowess. Special focus will be placed on legendary engines found in the Muscle Car and 1950s/1960s Galleries. Local muscle car restoration experts and engine builders will lead one hour tours focusing on specific manufacturers, vehicles, and engine technology of the era.

There are four available Horsepower Tours scheduled: 

  • Wednesday, 3/8 at 10:30 am – Studebaker & AMC Performance Tour
  • Saturday, 3/11 at 1:00 pm – MOPAR & Pontiac Performance Tour
  • Wednesday, 3/15 at 10:30 am – Ford & Shelby Performance Tour
  • Saturday, 3/18 at 1:00 pm  – Chevrolet & Pontiac Performance Tour

Admission

  • Adults / Seniors: $16
  • Youth (ages 11–17): $11
  • Children (10 and under): FREE
  • Active Military (must present ID): FREE

The departure point for the guided tours will be inside the Main Gallery, immediately past the museum entrance, next to the museum store.

Hoods Up! Engines on Display at the Gilmore Car Museum will run from Monday, March 6th through Monday, March 20th. The museum is open daily from 10am – 5pm ET.
