Things to Do, Places to Go – July 30, 2021

Sunflower Days, Spongebob’s Broadway Musical and Chalk the Block! There are some awesome things happening this week in West Michigan and our friends at COSY FM are sharing all the details!

Sunflower Days, Richland

Nothing says “summer” like sunflowers, and this weekend is the kick-off of the annual “Sunflower Days” at Gull Meadow Farms in Richland. They have five acres of more than 20 different varieties of sunflowers, plus different “prop stops” along the way to help you capture the perfect sunflower photos. You can also check out the petting farm and family activity area, or take a wagon ride out to the sunflower fields. Sunflower Days also runs next weekend, and the weekend of the 13th.

“Spongebob Squarepants the Broadway Musical”, Augusta

If you’re a musical theatre fan, “Spongebob Squarepants the Broadway Musical” is opening this Tuesday at the Barn Theatre in Augusta! It runs August 3rd through 15th, and offers a Backstage Xperience on select dates, where kids can get a backstage tour of the theatre with some hands-on demonstrations showing how the theatre is run, so you’ve got a fun show and a learning experience all in one.

“Chalk the Block”, St. Joseph

Coming up next weekend is “Chalk the Block” in St. Joseph! This is such a fun event, where chalk artists take over Broad Street in downtown St. Joseph. You can catch both amateur and professional artists preparing their squares on Friday evening, working on creating their chalk art all day Saturday, and then check out all of the completed masterpieces on Sunday. Definitely a fun reason to go hang out in St. Joe for the weekend!
