“Things to Do, Places to Go” – July 23, 2021

The Carousel’s reopening! An “area” movie is premiering and next weekend is Coast Guard Festival weekend! We shared everything you need to know about upcoming happenings on this week’s edition of “Things to Do, Places to Go!” with COSY FM!

Silver Beach Carousel

The happiest place in Southwest Michigan is reopening today! So the Silver Beach Carousel in St. Joseph is open starting today for rides by reservation only. You’ll get an hour timeslot where you can take as many carousel rides as you like, and they’ve set up a website (CarouselRSVP.com) where you can make reservations ahead of time, or even the day of your visit. They’re encouraging anyone over the age of 3 to please plan on wearing a mask to help keep all of their younger, unvaccinated visitors safe, and they’ll be cleaning and disinfecting between timeslots.

Todd & Brad Reed Photography

Todd & Brad Reed are West Michigan photographers who are based in Ludington, and there’s a brand new documentary premiering this week showcasing their many years of taking stunning Michigan photos. It’s called “Todd Reed: 50 Years Seeing Michigan Through a Lens,” and it’s debuting this coming Thursday evening at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts. It’s going to be a family-friendly premier that’s free and open to the public. We suggest you look up some of Todd Reed’s photos, because they’ll make you fall in love with Michigan all over again.

Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival

Grand Haven, or “Coast Guard City, USA” is welcoming back the Coast Guard Festival this year! It kicks off next Friday on the 30th, and runs through August 8th. They’ve got a full schedule of events in place, including a carnival, live entertainment at the waterfront stadium, a parade of ships, community picnic, and plenty more. It’s a great way to honor and respect the men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard.
