Things to Do, Places to Go! Barnyard Bash, Star of Saugatuck, Cicada Program

Critter Barn: Barnyard Bash

Critter Barn in Zeeland has a brand new facility, and they’re celebrating its grand opening tomorrow with a “Barnyard Bash!” You can visit their new location to tour the new barn, visit some animals, and check out what they have planned for the future! They’ll have family fun and music all afternoon from 1pm to 4pm to visit and check out the new Critter Barn.

Star of Saugatuck

Star of Saugatuck is open for the season, and they offer a really fun way to get out on the water! They’re based out of Saugatuck, and The Star is an authentic sternwheeler paddleboat that’s big enough to seat 120 passengers. It’ll take you on a cruise to the Kalamazoo River, Lake Kalamazoo, and even out into Lake Michigan! They also offer themed cruises, including their Pirate Cruises and their Wine on the Water Cruises, which you can catch coming up this weekend.

Virtual Stroll with Nature: Cicadas

You’ve probably heard about the cicadas who are set to re-emerge this summer, and if you or your kids want to learn more, Pierce Cedar Creek Institute is live-streaming a program about them this morning at 10am. You’ll learn about when and where to find them, and why and how they make so much noise. The program will be live-streamed through Zoom and Facebook Live, and is geared towards families with preschool through elementary aged students.
