Things to Do, Places to Go – August 6, 2021

Cornhole, singing insects, and photo contest voting – here are this week’s topics from our conversation with COSY FM!

Overhiser Orchards

If you think you’re a championship player when it comes to cornhole, Overhiser Orchards right in South Haven is holding a Cornhole Tournament this evening! Buy-in is $10, and if you win, you’ll take the prize pot home! Get in touch with them to reserve your spot for tonight’s tournament, or you can visit during the day for u-pick fresh peaches and sunflowers.

Sarett Nature Center

If you’re looking for somewhere fun to get outside and explore, the Sarett Nature Center in Benton Harbor is home to hundreds of species of wildlife, both inside the nature center and outside on the trails. They’ve got lots of upcoming events this month, including a program on singing insects, live harp music in the butterfly house, and a “Stewardship Saturday” where you’re invited to come get hands-on with projects to help preserve the nature center.

Photo Contest – Public Voting

We’ve just posted the Top 50 photos from this year’s Photo Contest on our West Michigan Facebook Page for public voting! We had over 1,800 photos entered in this year’s photo contest, so there’s a bunch of really great photos up for you to vote on, showcasing spots from all over West Michigan! Hop on our Facebook page to take a look, and if you want to vote for a photo, it’s as simple as liking the photo to cast your vote.
