Over 150 Paddlers Take to Northern Michigan’s Chain of Lakes Water Trail

Paddle Antrim is ready to celebrate Northern Michigan’s Chain of Lakes Water Trail at the 6th annual Paddle Antrim Festival, happening September 16-18.

This event is highlighted by over 150 paddlers embarking on a two-day paddle through the Chain of Lakes and includes family friendly events all weekend long for the entire community. The Paddle Antrim Festival starts with the Kick-off Party on Thursday, September 16th from 5:30-7:30 pm at Ellsworth River Park. There will be great live music from The Hazel James Band and food from Smokin Joes Bar B Q. The Festival concludes with a Final Bash Saturday afternoon hosted by the top sponsor of the Festival, Short’s Brewing Company at their Production Facility and Pull Bar from 3-9 pm on Saturday, September 18. There will be great Short’s brews, food from the Fried Food Truck and live music.

What: Non-competitive paddling event through the Chain of Lakes Water Trail with the option to go from 7 – 42 miles over two days.

  • Day 1 Launch – September 17, 9:00 – 10:00 am at Ellsworth River Park (6625 Bridge St, Ellsworth)  – Over 130 paddlers launching together at 10 am from a beautiful sandy beach.
  • Day 2 Launch – September 18, 7:30 – 8:00 am at Ohio Street Launch in Bellaire (google directions)
  • Final Bash hosted by Paddle Antrim Festival Top Sponsor Short’s Brewing Company – September 18, 3 – 9 pm at Short’s Pull Barn in Elk Rapids (211 Industrial Park, Elk Rapids)

Why:  To highlight the pristine and diverse waters of the Chain of Lakes Water Trail and the quaint communities (Ellsworth, Central Lake, Bellaire, Elk rapids) that the region has to offer.
