Description
Welcome to Silver Lake Sand Dunes, where it’s always time to ‘Come out and Play’

Located along Lake Michigan’s sweeping shoreline between Muskegon and Ludington, Michigan, Silver Lake Sand Dunes Area is just a few hours from Chicago, Detroit, Traverse City and the Mackinac Bridge.

Our lofty, 2,000-acre sand mountain separates miles of Lake Michigan shoreline and the 690-acre inland Silver Lake, all waiting for you to set aside your deadlines and come out and play!

Climb or ride to the top of the Dunes and play ‘King of the Hill.’ Swimming, boating, building sand castles . . . every activity you can imagine is available here on the shores of Lake Michigan and Silver Lake. Hike or bike our tree-lined trails. Explore our neighboring villages and towns. Fish and play golf.  Our National Asparagus Festival and annual Apple & BBQ Cook-Off Festival  are just two of our many unique attractions and events.

Add our great food, shopping and excellent accommodations from camping to our fine hotels, and you’ll see why at least one visitor calls us ‘The Paradise of the Midwest’, and why Silver Lake Sand Dunes Area has been nominated ‘One of America’s Best Little Beachtowns’ by Travel & Leisure Magazine.

Don’t forget, the Silver Lake Sand Dunes are the only dunes East of the Mississippi where you are allowed to drive a private motorized vehicle from April 1st through October 31st.

Soar high, wiggle your toes in the sand, splash in the water, hike, bike and explore, bask in the glow of a Lake Michigan sunset … whatever your idea of a family vacation might be, you’ll find it here at Silver Lake Sand Dunes Area.
