Barbed Wire Cafe
Barb took over sole control of the Plainwell Diner in June of 2016. They tore it down and the adjoining bait shop in May 2017. Construction from the ground up began June 14, 2017 and they were painting and tiling on the three month date of construction. Barb was the general contractor and took care finding farm antiques, Plainwell memorabilia, and vintage signs. A hunk of the Plainwell bowling alley, metal tin ceiling tile from T.G.I. Friday's as well as a 1939 World War I Licence plate at the veterans table are some examples.
Old school booths were designed and Ron Root of Roots Canvas brought them to life. Seating has nearly quadrupled! Breakfast and lunch are served seven days a week while dinner is three nights a week. Sunday is highlighted by Sunday Chicken with all the fixings.
Their menu will have the usual suspect sandwiches and breakfasts. But they will have regional and seasonal foods prepared by guest chefs. They have custom blended sausage and feature Cadillac coffee which decafinates their coffee with water not chemicals. Potatoes are never frozen and the fries are hand cut.
Experience our one of a kind setting, come back for the food, fun and friendship!
