Lakeshore Museum Center Hosts “Legends and Lore Walking Tour” Through Downtown Muskegon

Lakeshore Museum Center is hosting the “Legends and Lore Walking Tour of Downtown Muskegon” on October 7, 2021.

The walking tour will start at the Union Depot building at 610 W. Western Avenue and follow a route through downtown. The tour will explore the legends, lore, and scandals that are a rich part of Muskegon’s history. Stories shared along the tour will include those of allegedly haunted landmarks, an assassinated mayor, and a smuggling and safe-cracking caper at the Union Depot. Additional stories of important residents and city buildings will also be told.

“We’re excited to share these unusual stories with everyone who joins us on the Legends and Lore Tour,” says Patrick Horn, Lakeshore Museum Center program manager. “These aren’t stories we have a chance to tell all that often, and this walking tour provides a really unique way to explore these pieces of Muskegon history.”

Tickets for the Legends and Lore Walking Tour are $13 for Museum members and $15 for non-members. Register for the tour at the Museum Store or online at legendsandlorewalkingtour.eventbrite.com.

This event is a rain-or-shine tour. However, if severe weather or health concerns require the Museum to cancel, tickets will be refunded.
