Holland Farmers Market Hosting “Thanks For Giving” Food Drive for Community Action House

The Holland Farmers Market is hosting its first ever “Thanks For Giving” food drive to benefit Community Action House now through Saturday, November 20. Community members are invited to donate healthy, non-perishable food items at the Market each Wednesday and Saturday to benefit Community Action House’s newly launched Food Club located at 739 Paw Paw Drive in Holland. The Food Club Food Club is a membership-based grocery store serving low-income families that provides choice, flexibility, and access to healthy foods along with membership perks and support at the Opportunity Hub.

Each day customers make a donation for the Food Club at the Market, they will receive one entry into the “Thanks For Giving” gift basket giveaway. Holland Farmers Market farmers and vendors will be filling a gift basket full of fresh produce and specialty foods for the giveaway winner. The winner’s name will be drawn on Monday, November 22 so the gift basket can be picked up at the Market on Wednesday, November 24…just in time for Thanksgiving dinner!

“Community Action House shares in the Holland Farmers Market’s mission to ensure that healthy food is accessible to all and they have been our trusted partners for many years,” said Holland Farmers Market Marketing Coordinator Kara de Alvare. “We are excited to be hosting this food drive to help them stock the shelves at the Food Club and to be able to thank our generous customers for their donations too.”

Market customers that are interested in entering the contest, but forgot to bring a non-perishable food item, can purchase Market Bucks gift certificates ($5.00 minimum) to donate to Community Action House. Market staff will give the gift certificates to Community Action House to allow them to purchase fresh, healthy and local produce for their Food Club members.
