Fun ideas for a spring break ‘staycation’

Spring break is next week for West Michigan, and if you’re taking a “staycation,” there are plenty of things to do around the state. We shared some great ideas for spring break fun in the Grand Rapids area with our friends at WoodTV8.

Outdoor Fun

  • Storybook Walk at Pierce Cedar Creek Institute in Hastings
    • A new book displayed along their trails each month, which you get to read together as you explore the trails
  • Drive-In Movies in Coldwater at the Capri Drive-In Theater
    • Opens for the season April 1st, showing double-features perfect for a family night out

Fun Family Activities

  • Indoor ropes course, climbing walls, and ziplines at Allegan Event
    • Special hours for Spring Break week, and a fun weather-proof activity to keep in your pocket
  • Artsy mini-golf at the Muskegon Museum of Art
    • A full mini golf course, each hole designed around different pieces of artwork: explore the art museum while showing off your putt putt skills

Animal Adventures

  • “Spring Fling” at the Critter Barn in Zeeland
    • A chance to meet the new baby animals and even get hands-on with petting and feeding the Critter Barn’s residents
  • Spring Break Day Camps at John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids
    • A fun way to learn and play while exploring the zoo over break
    • A couple options for kids from Kindergarten through 5th grade

GR Museums

  • Spring Break Bonanza at the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum
    • Always a fun spot to check out with your kids, but visit the first week of April for Spring Break Bonanza! It’s a week full of special performances, presentations, and fun.
  • Dinosaurs & Planetarium shows at Grand Rapids Public Museum
    • Check out the new exhibits that are included with general admission to the Museum! Kent County kids 17 and under are FREE, with discounts for Kent County adults.
