Five Women Dive All Five Great Lakes in 24 Hours

On January 26 at 1:00 pm, Inland Seas Education Association (ISEA) will host a free virtual event featuring The Big Five Dive documentary. The film is about a group of women who attempted to dive one historic site in all five Great Lakes within the span of 24 hours. A screening of the film will be shown followed by a panel of the filmmakers and divers. The event is free but registration is required. A link to participate will be sent after registration.

This is the third event in the ISEA Cafe series. ISEA Cafes are an informal monthly gathering of the ISEA community to stay in touch during the non-sailing season and to deepen understanding of the Great Lakes. “Moving the Cafes online allow the public to participate no matter where they live,” shared Juliana Lisuk, Volunteer Coordinator for the Inland Seas Education Association. “We welcome anyone who has interest in learning more about us and what we do.”

ISEA’s second virtual cafe event, Gobies, Quaggas, and the Nearshore Food Web, took place in December. Graceanne Tarsa, a researcher from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s School of Freshwater Sciences, was the presenter. The last of the 2020-21 ISEA Cafes, Psychology of Environmental Stewardship, presented by Jess Lasoff-Santos from the University of Michigan and Katie Williamson from Rare’s Center for Behavior and Environment, will take place on February 16. Register here for the February ISEA Cafe.
