Arguably one of the most important figures in the history of Harbor Springs, geared-locomotive inventor Ephraim Shay retired to the area in 1888. During his “retirement” he created over twelve miles of water mains to bring running water to the city, designed and built his unique Hexagon House and started a logging railway known locally as the Hemlock Central.

Join the Harbor Springs Area Historical Society to celebrate the ingenuity of Ephraim Shay during Shay Days 2019!

Activities on both Friday and Saturday include kids crafts and games at the Shay Hexagon House, live model steam trains in Shay Park, and self-guided tours of the historic Hexagon House. Bring the whole family and discover more about Ephraim Shay and how his creative genius helped to shape Harbor Springs. For more information, please call the Historical Society at (231) 526-9771.

Shay Days 2019 is sponsored by the Harbor Springs Masonic Lodge #378 and Kelbel Pharmacy with underwriting support provided by the Petoskey Area Visitors Bureau. For lodging information while attending Shay Days, visit www.PetoskeyArea.com.
