Lunch and Learn: The Kirtland’s Warbler’s Sweet Song of Success (Ages 15+, Under 18 with Adult)
Friday, September 16 Program: 11 am – Noon (in-person and on Zoom)
Lunch: Noon – 1 pm
This year the state of Michigan is featuring the Kirtland’s Warbler on its custom license plate. The songbird has come a long way from being listed on the Endangered Species Act in 1973 with only fewer than 200 nesting pairs to its delisting in 2019. Join Dave Ewert, Kirtland’s Warbler Program Director, and Conservation Specialist at American Bird Conservancy, as he discusses Kirtland’s Warbler’s unique journey from the brink of extinction to a rare conservation success story and the lessons learned that could help protect other endangered species. This program will be presented virtually and synchronously (in-person). A recording of the program will be available to all registered participants on the Institute’s YouTube Channel. Please register by Monday, September 12, to reserve a lunch.
Program ONLY: Members FREE; Non-members $5
