Prepare yourself for fall flavors and fright-filled nights! Taste the flavors of fall as hayrides roll, pumpkins fly and headless horsemen ride. Experience a true South Haven harvest with apple orchards and bonfires, and pumpkin carving, and delicious good-as-grandma's pies. So grab some cider, dance to live music, and see South Haven transform!

Friday, October 18
Harvest Horror - Masonic Temple, 7:30 PM, Our Town Players bring back their bold addition to Haven Harvest: "Harvest Horror," an evening of horror designed to ruin many nights of your peaceful slumber. "Harvest Horror" is a collection of four short psychological thrillers in the tradition of "Wait Until Dark" or the "Twilight Zone". These are stories that lead you along a dark and twisting path dropping clues and building suspense along the way and then withholding the resolution for the very last second. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for senior citizens and may be purchased (cash/check) at the door starting at 7:00 PM; no one under the age of 16 allowed. Local Orchard Tours and U-pick

Throughout the Area All Day Long, Tour and pick apples at any of our local orchards. Maps available at the Visitors Bureau.

 

Best Scarecrow

Local businesses, All day, As you walk around town, see the charming and creative scarecrows the merchants have put together. Choose your favorite scarecrow and grab a ballot from that merchant - then drop it in the ballot box in front of Chemical Bank!

 

Walking Tour

Dyckman / North Shore Drive to Bunde’s Bakery Cafe, 10 AM, Grab your comfortable shoes and join host Joe Ashen with the Historical Association of South Haven and Bunde’s Bakery Café for a walking tour of the historic North Shore. The tour starts at 10 AM at the northeast corner of Dyckman and North Shore Drive, lasts approximately 90 minutes, and ends at Bunde’s Bakery Café, 89 North Shore Drive. Participants are welcome to join in or opt out at any point along the tour.

 

Mitten Made Makers Market

Dykman Park, 10 AM – 5 PM, The South Haven Center for the Arts invites you to come see artists put on a fantastic display of unique jewelry, trinkets and artwork, all custom-made by Southwest Michigan artisans. Michigan made cuisine will also be among the choices!

 

Family Fun and Games

Riverfront Park, 12 PM – 4 PM, Join us for some great interactive family, fun. Enjoy FREE games, balloon artists, face painting, and prizes.

 

Pie Sampling

Riverfront Park, 1 – 4 PM, Support local nonprofit programs in South Haven by purchasing a sample (or two) of homemade pie; $2 each!

 

Pumpkin Painting

Riverfront Park, 1 – 4 PM, Michigan Theatre invites you to come paint a pumpkin. They'll have the pumpkins and the paint, just bring your ideas and skills! Moore Theatre Owners will be on hand to select the best pumpkins for special prizes!

 

Horse Drawn Hayrides

Riverfront Park, 1 – 4 PM, Take a ride from Riverfront Park to South Beach and back on a horse drawn hayride. Rides are free and last about 15 minutes.

 

Pumpkin Chuckn’ in the River

Riverfront Park, 2 PM – 4 PM, An annual, favorite local event, back by popular demand! Watch pumpkins fly into the river as kids and kids at heart slingshot them into the water! Free event with prizes!

 

Locally Made Cider, Beer and Wine Tent

Huron Street Pavilion, 5 – 10 PM, Enjoy locally made brews, cider and wine while listening to great music! All proceeds benefit the South Haven Rotary Club.

 

Live Bands and Dancing

Huron Street Pavilion, 5 – 10 PM, Join us for free music at the Pavilion featuring Aces & Eights, as well as Crook County Blues Band! Beer and wine will be available for purchase - hosted by the South Haven Rotary Club.

Evening

Headless Horseman Ride

Throughout town, 7 – 7:30 PM, Beware and keep an eye out for the Headless Horseman riding through the streets downtown South Haven!

 

Legendary Great Lakes balladeer Lee Murdock will be performing "Great Lakes Ghosts"

Michigan Maritime Museum, 7 - 9 PM, This narrated concert features songs of supernatural legends and spooky tales of ghost ships, haunted lighthouses, and unexplained phenomena. Tickets are $10 for members and $15 for non-members with 50% of the proceeds going towards the Michigan Maritime Museum.

Morning

Pet Costume Parade

Huron Street Pavilion, Downtown, 11 AM – Noon, Decadent Dogs invites you to bring your furry friend all dressed up and ready to show off! Prizes for the pet costumes that are the scariest, funniest and matching their owner!

 

Afternoon

BOO on Your Bike – Kal Haven Trail, 1 – 3 PM, A free annual event held by Rock ‘n’ Road Cycle of South Haven. Riders of all ages are invited to dress up in costume and get out for a scenic fall bicycle ride on the Kal-Haven Trail starting at the South Haven trail head. Prizes, candy, apple cider, doughnuts, free helmets for children will all be given out. Plus, there will be a bike rodeo supported by the South Haven Police Department. Riders can ride up to six miles total (further if desired), and expect to see fairies, witches, goblins and ghouls along their ride!
