Grand Rapids Symphony presents Richard Strauss’ mighty Ein Heldenleben or “A Hero’s Life” at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 23-24, 2018, in DeVos Performance Hall, 303 Monroe Ave. NW. The thinly disguised trip through the ego of the composer himself features a hilarious battle section in which the ‘Hero’ confronts his critics.
The sixth concerts in the Richard and Helen DeVos Classical series features Grand Rapids Symphony’s Principal Flutist Christopher Kantner performing Mozart’s effervescent Concerto in G Major for Flute. The evening led by Music Director Marcelo Lehninger opens with Brazilian composer M. Camargo Guarnieri’s Abertura Festiva or “Festive Overture.”
Upbeat, a pre-concert conversation begins at 7 p.m.
$18 general admission, $5 students
