The “Gales of November” have ravaged ships traveling the Great Lakes for centuries. These intense weather systems have been known to produce 120 mph winds and 30 foot waves.

In this online presentation, filmmaker and historian Ric Mixter will share rare interviews with eyewitnesses to terrible storms in 1913 and 1940 as well as the losses of the Daniel J. Morrell, Carl D. Bradley and Edmund FitzgeraldMixter’s lecture will also featured underwater footage of what these shipwrecks look like today.

Ric Mixter is a documentary filmmaker and author as well as a former president of the Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers Association. Millions of television viewers recognize Ric as a shipwreck researcher, diving over 100 shipwrecks in the Great Lakes, including the Edmund Fitzgerald. He has produced over 30 programs for PBS and the Outdoor Channel and appeared as a shipwreck expert on the History and Discovery Channels.
