Every year more than 23,000 youth exit the foster care system on their 18th birthday. When this happens, much of the supports they've had are immediately removed resulting in 15% of these youth becoming homeless immediately! Up to 36% will experience homelessness by 21 years of age. G.L.I.D.E. assists these youth with stable housing, employment readiness training, and life skills training. At G.L.I.D.E. we believe in empowering youth to become the best version of themselves that they can. By providing these services we are removing homeless individuals from the street, ensuring they have access to mental and physical healthcare, and ensuring they have access to all of the same resources as non-fostered youth. When you join this run, you are supporting this cause!
