Enjoy a Knitting Getaway!

If a weekend getaway that combines knitting with other yarn lovers, great food, the comforts of a bed and breakfast and more knitting sounds like your pace... well, this one's just for you!

We've partnered with Nautical Yarn and other Ludington area B&B's to create a relaxing weekend getaway that combines knitting, great food and time with friends! Between Friday evening April 6, and Sunday afternoon, April 8, you'll knit a whole sweater as the talented team at Nautical Yarn teaches a class on Andrea Mowry's "The Weekender" sweater.

Event Details

Friday evening, April 6: Nautical Yarn will host a brief fitting class with a light pizza and salad dinner.  The Weekender is an over-sized sweater and doesn't require a lot of fitting, but we will cover the basics of garment fitting.  You will also knit and block your swatch to be measured Saturday.

Saturday Morning, April 7: We will begin to cover the skills required for the sweater including Tubular cast on.  You will be able to cast on the stitches for your sweater and begin work on the bottom hems and body of the sweater.

After Lunch on Saturday: We will cover the shoulder shaping skills required including two methods of short-row shaping.

Saturday Evening: A knitting dessert reception will be held at The Lamplighter Bed & Breakfast.  Everyone is invited to enjoy sweets while knitting with your friends!

Sunday Morning, April 8: We will learn two bind-off skills including 3-needle bind-off and Tubular bind-off with Kitchener stitch.

Additional Information

All classes will take place at Nautical Yarn, located at 108 South Rath Avenue in downtown Ludington, Michigan.  All participating Ludington bed and breakfasts are a 2-3 minute drive (or a 10-15 minute walk) to Nautical Yarn.

The Weekender Sweater takes (915/XS, 1015/S, 1130/M, 1265/L, 1520/XXL, 1640/XXXL) yards of worsted weight yarn.  Also - size 7, 8 and 9 needles are required, but we suggest you bring sizes 5 through 10 circular needles in 40" length.
