The South Haven Steelheaders are proud to announce their partnership with Operation Injured Soldier. The mission of this organization is to help our wounded heroes get back to the sports and hobbies they enjoyed before being deployed. Our Chapter’s dedicated member volunteers devote a Saturday in July or August each summer to either acquaint or reacquaint these veterans to the fun of sportfishing on Lake Michigan.

The event starts with a scouting report followed by an early morning assault on the lake. Once the fish are battled and the cooler is secured, the team returns for a debriefing luncheon to ascertain the success of the mission. We have been known to hear conflicting reports on the overall strength and size of the fish force faced.

This is truly a great event in which the community shows support by lining the piers for the return trip to port.  Proud to be an American is an understatement felt by all on board during the slow idle back to the dock.
