Enjoy the Summer Season in South Haven

Summertime is in full swing in South Haven! If you’re looking for a fun beachtown getaway, there are plenty of activities to enjoy in and around town. On a hot sunny day, relax on one of our sugar-sand beaches. North and South Beaches are both equipped with concession stands, restrooms and play equipment for kids, as well as piers to walk out on. North Beach has volleyball nets available for rent, and South Beach has the new Friends Good Will Splash Pad, perfect for red flag days! You can rent a kayak and a paddleboard right off the sand on both of these main beaches as well. Sunsets are best viewed at the beach, so prepare for a day full of fun at Lake Michigan!

Rent scooters, golf carts, jet skis, speedboats and pontoon boats for added fun around town and on the water. There are many boats available to charter from as well. The Michigan Maritime Museum hosts a fleet of historic vessels with their own unique offerings. In addition, Elsie J is a historic commercial fishing tug boat that takes passengers out during the day and evening, as well as the Sun Setter, an ex-United States Navy Utility Launch Boat. Finally, Margaret Ann is a sailboat that hosts six guests at a time. Bring your own cooler and enjoy a sail on Lake Michigan!

There’s more to explore and experience in the downtown area. There is a great variety of shops to browse, ranging from clothing to shoes, home decor, soy candles, terrariums, antique shops and more! Our three waterfront bars are a seasonal treasure and offer scenic views and lots of fun into the nighttime. Live music is hosted nightly! For more musical fun, bring a blanket or a chair to Riverfront Park on Thursday nights and enjoy free live music beginning at 7pm. You’ll have a beautiful view of the harbor while relaxing to different genres!

Summertime is also blueberry time in South Haven. Visit our farmer’s market, located downtown under the large pavilion, on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8am to 2pm. There are many farms to visit where you can pick your own fruit, including DeGrandchamp Farms, Bumbleberry Acres and Overhiser Orchards. In addition, the National Blueberry Festival is taking place August 12-15 this year, so head out to South Haven and celebrate the blueberry harvest for the 58th year in a row!
