Short’s Brewing Co Anniversary Party; April 26 & 27
You know what they say - 20 Rocks! And rock indeed will be the theme for the 20th-anniversary celebration of Short’s Brewing Co., based in Bellaire. The live bands - 11 in all, will begin rockin' at two different stages beginning at 11:30 a.m. and continue to shred the tunes until about 11:00 p.m. As far as the main event - the beer of course - they're gonna pull out all the stops, open all the bars, and even pour some of their Up North Exclusives which include 10-year staff-designed brews. This is an all-day, all-age shindig, so get ready for their Big Two Zero!
John Ball Zoo: Grand Rapids Lantern Festival
The popular Grand Rapids Lantern Festival is back at John Ball Zoo with dozens of handmade lanterns. The festival features a one-mile tour through the Zoo, illuminated by dozens of handmade lanterns that tell the intersecting stories of wildlife and Asian culture. It’s the year of the dragon in the Chinese zodiac, so a large dragon tunnel will greet visitors at the front of the Zoo. John Ball Zoo is the only place in Michigan where visitors can view these lanterns. Timed tickets will be sold every half hour from 7-10:30 p.m. You can purchase your tickets online through the JBZ website.
Treetops Resort; Grill on the Hill; May 4th
Head a little farther north to the Treetops Resort in Gaylord for the 6th annual Grill on the Hill. This event for all the barbecue fanatics will be taking place May 4th.
