Lowell Arts announces the Solo Seven exhibition, featuring work by 7 exceptional artists from Michigan. A body of work from each artist is on display that highlights the unique perspective of each artist. A wide range of styles and media are represented. Artists include: Jan Arbogast, Patti Brinks, Kim Kalahar, Regina Mondro, Danielle Paganelli, Thiago Porraz, and Otto Selles.

 

There will be an Artist Reception open to the public on Sunday, August 3, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Visitors can meet the artists and enjoy light refreshments at the reception.

 

The exhibition is open to the public at the Lowell Arts Gallery, 223 W Main St, Lowell, MI 49331. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, and Saturday, 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Artist Bios

Jan Arbogast | Jan is a watercolor artist who finds beauty in quiet moments. Her paintings reflect a love of light, water, and the peaceful pauses nature offers.

 

Patti Brinks | Patti studied Illustration at Kendall College of Art + Design, graduating with honors. She has continued her studies with personal instruction and classes under artists such as Chris Graves and Jennfier Gennari. When she’s not losing the hours in her studio you can find Patti running with her dog, Laszlo, spending time with her husband, and spoiling her grandchildren. 

 

Kim Kalahar | Kim has always made art and shared her work in exhibits whenever possible. A native Grand Rapidian, she pursued an interdisciplinary education in art at MSU, and post graduate studies in California. After living in the San Francisco Bay area for many years, she relocated to Michigan, where she can be found in her studio, painting.

 

Regina Mondro | Regina is an artist and graphic designer who has shown in various exhibitions in West and Mid-Michigan. Her experimental, concept-driven work incorporates themes of fragility, community, and resilience through the origami crane motif. Danielle Paganelli | Danielle is a figurative oil painter based in Grand Rapids, who recently graduated with her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She utilizes the indirect painting process to achieve nuanced color and detail in her realistic paintings about childhood. Her work has been exhibited in local festivals and galleries.

 

Thiago Porraz | Thiago is a trans, queer, Hispanic artist living in Grand Rapids, MI. Through his work he explores his own experiences with trauma, queerness, and neurodivergence.

 

Otto Selles | Otto Selles is a portrait, event, and landscape photographer based in Grand Rapids, MI. He studied English and French for his BA and MA at McMaster University (Hamilton, ON) and obtained a doctorate in French at the University of Paris IV-Sorbonne. He teaches French at Calvin University where he chairs the World Languages Department and the Art and Design Department.
