Open to the Public May 5–7 and May 11–13, 10am–5pm

Lowell Arts is pleased to serve as the coordinating organization for the Lowell Area Schools District-Wide K–12 Art Show, a community exhibition celebrating the creative work of students from across Lowell Area Schools. The show will be on display at Lowell City Hall, 301 East Main Street, and is free and open to the public.

Exhibition dates and hours:

  • May 5–7 and May 11–13, 10am–5pm

The community is invited to attend a free reception honoring the student artists on Tuesday, May 6, from 5:30–7:30pm.

The show will also feature a Senior Showcase, a special section dedicated to the work of Lowell Area Schools' graduating artists.

Every K–12 student in the Lowell Area Schools district whose artwork is selected will have the experience of seeing their work displayed in a civic space, a public building that belongs to the whole community. For many, it will be their first experience as a recognized artist. The evening reception is designed with working families in mind, and organizers anticipate this becoming an annual community tradition drawing families, grandparents, neighbors, and supporters from across the district.

This project grew directly from art teachers' desire for a showcase that brings together student work from all schools in a shared public space. The following teachers, representing every level of K–12 education in the district, have committed to participating: Lori Coffman (Murray Lake Elementary), Christina Spaulding (Cherry Creek Elementary), Amber Graham (Bushnell and Alto Elementary), Makenzie Jordan (Lowell Middle School), and Christine Cosgrove and Emma Bandos (Lowell High School).

The exhibit is made possible through meaningful commitments from the City of Lowell, which has opened City Hall's common areas on both the main and upper levels for the show, and from Lowell Area Schools Administration, which will also host a rotating student art display in its own offices and meeting rooms in the next school year, with pieces selected from this show. Together, these partnerships reflect a shared institutional commitment to recognizing young people in the community they call home.

Community members interested in supporting the event are encouraged to sign up for an Art Watch volunteer shift at City Hall. Here is the link to sign-up for a two-hour shift at City Hall during the open hours of the show.
