Lakeshore Keepers announced its fall season hours for the lighthouses, along with a special Bus Day Tour in partnership with the Port of Ludington Maritime Museum.
Fall Hours
Big Sable Point Lighthouse in Ludington State Park, Ludington North Breakwater Light, Little Sable Point Lighthouse in Mears, and White River Light Station in Whitehall will hold their summer hours through September 7, 2025. These hours are Mondays, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., and Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Starting Thursday, September 11, the lights will be open Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Each light has varying closing dates for the winter. Ludington North Breakwater will close on September 28. Little Sable Point and White River Light Station will close on October 19. Big Sable Point will remain open until October 26.
Guests can climb the historic lighthouse towers and take in breathtaking views of Lake Michigan and the surrounding dunes. Climb the Light pricing is $8 for adults, $5 for youth 17 years and under, and free of cost to active service members and veterans.
Bus Day Tour – Saturday, October 11, 2025
For one day only, join Lakeshore Keepers and the Port of Ludington Maritime Museum for a special guided Bus Day Tour. This ticketed event offers a seamless, all-inclusive tour of both Big Sable Point Lighthouse and the Port of Ludington Maritime Museum. This is an effort to make the lighthouse and museum more accessible to the community and travelers.
Guests will hop aboard shuttle buses from Ludington State Park to enjoy a 3-hour, 40-minute adventure that combines history, stunning views, and immersive experiences.

During the tour, guests can climb the 112-foot tower of Big Sable Point Lighthouse for panoramic lake and dune views. You can also walk on the beach and shop for souvenirs at the gift shop. At the Maritime Museum, guests will have the opportunity to explore interactive exhibits and authentic artifacts, including historic Fresnel lenses from Ludington’s lighthouses.
The tour cost is $50 per person, which includes bus transportation, entrance fees for the lighthouse and museum, a bottle of water, and a candy bar.
