This is the second year Kalamazoo Craft Beverage Week invited artists to participate in a creative design contest to celebrate the craft beverage industry in Kalamazoo. This year, four artists submitted designs in November that were then included in a weeklong community vote online.

The winning design receiving the most votes was created by Nichole M.K. Lindhorn of Kalamazoo, MI. Her artwork featuring anthropomorphic craft beverages will be printed on complimentary commemorative stickers that will be available at participating locations around Kalamazoo County during Kalamazoo Craft Beverage Week from February 1 - 8. As the winning artist, Lindhorn will also receive a cash prize, copies of her sticker design, and artist information featured on the event website and social media channels.

Nichole M.K. Lindhorn is originally from northern Indiana and moved to Kalamazoo around five years ago. She attended IU South Bend, majoring in Fine Art with a concentration in Graphic Design. She said her art style has changed over the years, ranging from weird, cheeky illustrations and sweet characters to nature-themed art.

“I have currently been experimenting with woodcut paintings and mural work,” said Lindhorn. “Illustration featuring anthropomorphic characters is a fun go-to for me, and I’m glad I had the opportunity to showcase that in this KBCW design!”

More of Lindhorn’s work can be seen on her website (https://nicholemk.bigcartel.com/) and on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/nichole.mk/).
