Share your latest bird sightings and learn more about some of the bird species commonly found during winter in southwest Michigan, and related topics, during monthly Birds and Coffee chats, offered by the W.K. Kellogg Bird Sanctuary. All events begin at 10 a.m. on Zoom.

The first chat of 2025, set for Wednesday, Jan. 8. Kristy Taylor will discuss combining birding and nature discovery with mindfulness practices. Kristy is a member of Capital Area Audubon and serves seasonally as the outreach and volunteer coordinator for the Michigan State Bird Observatory.

The February chat, set for Wednesday, Feb. 12, will delve into common songbird injuries and reasons for intake to wildlife rehabilitators. Marissa Jardine from the Bird Center of Michigan will discuss window collisions, being caught by cats, and nest destruction, and how rehabilitators respond to these situations.

The March chat will take place Wednesday, March 12. The topic for this chat will be announced soon. Visit kbs.msu.edu/events for updates.

Birds and Coffee chats are free and open to the public, but registration is required to access information on how to join the events.
