The Frankfort-Elberta Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the return of the 19th Annual Nitecrawler Hunt and Take a Kid Fishing event, taking place Friday, June 26th and Saturday, June 27th at Frankfort Mineral Springs Park. This event gives kids the chance to experience the joy of fishing — completely free of charge and no fishing license required! 

"After all these years, this event still fills my heart the same way it did the very first time," says Donna Phillips, Volunteer Coordinator. "Watching a child's face light up when they catch their first fish — that's what it's all about. We work hard every year to make sure every kid who shows up leaves with a smile, a fishing rod, and a memory they'll never forget." 

Event Details: 

Friday, June 26th — Nitecrawler Hunt 

The fun gets started Friday evening with the always exciting Nitecrawler Hunt! 

● When: Dusk (approximately 9:30 PM) 

● Where: Frankfort Mineral Springs Park Pavilion 

● What to Bring: Flashlights and a bucket for your worms 

The evening kicks off with a reading of "Where Worms Come From" before the hunt begins promptly at 9:45 PM — rain or shine. A&M Bait Farms has generously donated worms for the hunt, and members of the NWMI Fishing Club will be on hand to help. The NWMI Fishing Club

also assembled 100 fishing rods, graciously donated by the Willoughby Rotary Foundation, which will be distributed to participating kids. 

Saturday, June 27th — A Day of Fishing 

The main event begins bright and early Saturday morning! 

● When: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM, rain or shine 

● Where: Frankfort Mineral Springs Park 

Kids can register for a chance to win exciting prizes, including two fully loaded tackle boxes donated by the Mead Family, plus additional free fishing gear. Participants must be present for the prize drawing. 

Following the festivities, a free pizza party will be held courtesy of Frankfort A. Papano's Pizza, with cool-pops and cookies provided by Family Fare and the Community Spirit Food Source. 

Every Child Goes Home with a Rod! 

Every child who attends will receive a free fishing rod! Kids who received a rod in a previous year are encouraged to bring it back. Free worms will be available for those who missed the Nitecrawler Hunt.
