This Valentine’s Day, Tibbits Opera House invites audiences to fall in love all over again with a special screening of the timeless film “Casablanca”, preceded by an indulgent Chocolate and Wine Tasting featuring handcrafted Ciao Bella Chocolat and wines from Sit and Stay Winery.
Whether you’re a classic film fan or just looking for a fun way to celebrate Valentine’s Day, you’re encouraged to come to Tibbits Opera House on Saturday, February 14. Moviegoers can simply enjoy the film, which begins at 7 pm and admission is by donation. Cosplay is encouraged and attendees can arrive at 6:30 pm to enjoy a cocktail at Rick’s (Tibbits Ghost Light Bar) in Tibbits Art Gallery.
For a truly special evening, Tibbits is offering a pre-movie Valentine’s Chocolate and Wine Tasting event featuring the decadent creations of Ciao Bella Chocolat paired with the lush wines from Sit and Stay Winery. The Chocolate and Wine Tasting event is $25/person with café seating on Tibbits stage at 6 pm.
Considered American Film Institute’s number one greatest love stories of all time, “Casablanca”, set in French Morocco during World War II, centers on American expatriate Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart), owner of the nightclub “Rick’s Café Américain”. Blaine faces an impossible dilemma when he must choose between his love for a woman (Ingrid Bergman) and helping her Resistance-leader husband (Paul Henreid) escape from the Nazis. Directed by Michael Curtiz, this classic romantic drama is celebrated for its iconic performances and themes of love, courage and sacrifice. “Casablanca” won three Academy Awards, including the Oscar for Best Picture. The screenplay is based on “Everybody Comes to Rick’s,” an unproduced stage play by Murray Burnett and Joan Alison.
Tickets for the film are by donation, and tickets for the Valentine’s Chocolate and Wine Tasting event are $25/person.
