Tibbits Opera House has filled December with a world of entertainment to help audiences celebrate the holidays with music, films and special memories.
Christmas spirit takes the form of a rockin’ light show with Siberian Solstice and its Trans-Siberian-Orchestra-style show Saturday, December 14 at 7pm. A Celtic Christmas with the Founding will offer an inspiring mix of traditional and original Christmas tunes Saturday, December 21 at 7pm. Both groups are returning to Tibbits by popular demand.
Two very different films round out the entertainment for the month. The family favorite, The Polar Express will show Saturday, December 7 and the action-packed Bruce Willis film Die Hard, will show Friday, December 20. Both films offer “more than a movie” with a hot chocolate bar prior to The Polar Express and a Nakatomi office party prior to Die Hard.
Siberian Solstice provides an exciting and inspirational Christmas show with music performed in the style of the nationally acclaimed Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO). Siberian Solstice pays tribute with its own musical performance and narrated story enhanced by an elaborate light and video display. The show will feature traditional Christmas music and classical pieces presented with a rock feel using electronic keyboards, drums and guitars. Tickets range from $12-$27.
The Founding, a progressive Celtic band from Kalamazoo, Mich. brings a unique, energetic and powerful approach to songwriting, striving to constantly push the boundaries of the Irish and Scottish music traditions. Last performing on Tibbits’ stage in 2022, they are looking forward to returning with this holiday version of their show. Tickets range from $12-$23.
Both concerts begin at 7:30pm. Tibbits members enjoy discounts on these performances. Doors to the lobbies, art gallery and Ghost Light Bar open at 6:30pm, with seating beginning at 7pm.
Prior to The Polar Express, Tibbits will be hosting a Hot Cocoa Bar beginning at 5pm. The film begins at 5:30pm and will finish in time to catch Coldwater’s Holiday Parade. Prior to Die Hard, Tibbits will sponsor a Nakatomi Office Christmas party based on the opening of the film. The office party begins at 5:30pm with the film starting at 6:30pm. The films are by donation. There will be a small charge of $5 for the hot cocoa as well as a charge of $10 for the Nakatomi Office Christmas Party. Reservations are encouraged and may be made online.
All performances and films will be held at the historic Tibbits Opera House, 14 South Hanchett Street in Coldwater, Mich. For tickets, reservations and information, visit Tibbits.org, stop at Tibbits administrative offices at 93 W. Chicago St. in Coldwater, or call 517.278.6029.
