Several area attractions are opening for the season here in West Michigan!
Star of Saugatuck: Wine on the Water
Star of Saugatuck opened for the season yesterday, and, with the warmer weather, they offer a really fun way to get out on the water! They’re based out of Saugatuck, and The Star is an authentic sternwheeler paddleboat that’s big enough to seat 120 passengers. It’ll take you on a cruise to the Kalamazoo River, Lake Kalamazoo, and even out into Lake Michigan! They also offer themed cruises all season long, including their Pirate Cruises and their Wine on the Water Cruises, which you can catch coming up on May 15th.
Historic White Pine Village, Ludington
The Historic White Pine Village in Ludington also just opened for the season this weekend, where you can walk through and experience real-life history. The village has 30 historic buildings from the late 1800s and early 1900s, where you’ll find first-person interpreters you can interact with to learn about actual local historical characters. White Pine Village is open Tuesday-Saturday each week, and they also offer a combo ticket with the nearby Port of Ludington Maritime Museum for even more local history.
Boulder Ridge Wild Animal Park, Alto
Another warm-weather favorite, Boulder Ridge Wild Animal Park in Alto is also now open for the season! You’ll find a very interactive experience at Boulder Ridge, with new animals, attractions, and Keeper Talks planned for this year, plus the addition of a full concessions stand. They’re located on 80 acres with lots of room for outdoor visitors to explore the petting zoo, bird aviary, safari ride, and lots more.
