Fun family events coming up in West Michigan

 

Thornapple Arts Council 17th Annual Jazz Festival
If you’ve been missing live music, the 17th Annual Thornapple Arts Council Jazz Festival is coming up April 29th through May 1st in downtown Hastings. This year’s event will feature middle and high school jazz bands playing outside at the Spray Plaza or the Thornapple Plaza in downtown Hastings. The festival highlights jazz education, and provides a weekend of free jazz performances to the public. You can find the festival performance schedule and up-to-date event info on the Thornapple Arts Council website.

Gilmore Car Museum Mustang & Ford Show
The Gilmore Car Museum is kicking off their summer season on May 1st with their David J. Beeke Mustang & Ford Car Show. They’re located in Hickory Corners, and the show will take place on the museum’s 90 acres of outdoor campus. If you have a Ford, Mustang, or other classic car that you’re interested in showcasing, you can sign up to do so through the Gilmore Car Museum’s website, or you can plan to attend on May 1st to check out all of the classic cars.

The 2021 Lake Michigan Lighthouse Map & Circle Tour now available
If you’re interested in the lighthouses that surround Lake Michigan, you’ll want to pick up a copy of the new Lake Michigan Lighthouse Map and Circle Tour! Just released for 2021, it folds out to a poster-sized map of Lake Michigan, and shows all of the over-100 lighthouses you’ll find around the lake. This year’s map features Point Betsie Lighthouse on the cover, which is located in Frankfort, Michigan, and you can request a free copy by mail, or view the map digitally at WMTA.org.
