Craft Beer Haven Touted by Traverse City Tourism

Traverse City Tourism hopes to put the region on the map as a top craft beer destination. The group is encouraging the public to vote for Traverse City as a Favorite Small Town for Craft Beer in a current USA Today poll.

The online poll runs until Tuesday, March 16 with the winning community announced on Friday, March 26. A total of 20 communities are under consideration as selected by a panel of beer experts. Traverse City currently sits in the number seven spot.

“We have so many outstanding examples of brewers who put their heart and soul into their craft,” said Traverse City Tourism President Trevor Tkach. “It’s great for USA Today to recognize the work these brewers do, but they deserve to be at the top of the list.”

USA Today calls the Traverse City area as “A hotbed of craft beer.” The poll cites Right Brain Brewing, Brewery Terra Firma, Earthen Ales and Jolly Pumpkin as just a few examples of the craft beer scene in the region.

Communities were required to have a population under 30,000 to be considered for the recognition. Traverse City is included with other communities such as Bar Harbor, Maine; Breckenridge, Colorado; and Lake Placid, New York.

Participants can vote once a day at: USA Today Small Town Craft Beer Poll.
